Structural bearings

Principle

mageba RESTON-SPHERICAL bearings ensure the controlled transfer of forces between a structure’s superstructure and its substructure. The spherical bearings also facilitate rotations about every axis and movements in every direction. A convex curved element, sliding on a matching concave surface, transfers vertical forces while allowing the required rotations.

Applications

RESTON SPHERICAL structural bearings are suitable for use in structures which require the transfer of medium to high loads, and for structures whose bearings must facilitate large cumulative sliding movements – such as suspension bridges which are susceptible to wind forces. The high-strength, high-durability sliding material used at its heart allows the spherical bearing to be designed smaller than would be possible with any other bearing type – a feature which may be of particular interest where space is limited.
