Sales Engineer (f/m) 100 %

The Sales Engineer takes direct ownership as a point of contact for authorities, customers and consulting engineers in assigned markets, providing them with technical and commercial support to identify optimum products and services.
In collaboration with the Team Lead and Area Management, he/she leads business development activities and defines market strategies.
Key objectives and purpose is to develop in-depth knowledge of and strong reputation in the markets, allowing mageba to perform as a key supplier for local stakeholders.

This function is located at our Headquarters in Bulach, Switzerland.

Your responsibilities

  • Act as point of contact for key partners, consulting engineers, contractors and authorities

  • Understand each stakeholders requirements and develop long term collaborative relationships, through providing high quality technical and commercial support to establish a personal rapport

  • Define with and propose to external stakeholders best-in-class engineering solutions, supported by mageba in-house technical office

  • Prepare quotations for products and services in collaboration with internal departments (estimators, technical office, production, procurement, logistics)

  • Clear external communication of commercial and technical proposals within quotations. Ability to handle commercial and contractual negotiations

  • Proactively support key partners, establish and maintain strong relationships, and identify/manage partnerships with a focus on local market needs in collaboration with management

  • Organise and drive promotional activities and engage in business related travel. Meet with key stakeholders, conduct training sessions to design engineers, attend/present at conferences

  • Regular and accurate input of data into company sales reporting and budget tools

  • Facilitate effective project handover and provide ongoing support to the project management team. Collaborate internally with various teams for seamless interdisciplinary teamwork

  • Identify local market regulations on product approvals. Work with local authorities and internal stakeholders to maintain and expand approvals

  • Actively contribute to internal product, service and process improvements

  • Further develop professional and technical knowledge through attending training, self-development and visiting construction sites

  • Regularly report progress, market trends/preferences and challenges/opportunities to the Area Management for collaborative discussion

Your profile

  • University degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or equivalent

  • Previous experience in construction industry, with sales/project management experience, a plus

  • Good understanding of construction engineering (bridges) and construction product related business

  • Passion for and ability working with “commercial numbers” alongside “engineering numbers”

  • Strong flair for a service and customer-oriented role

  • Excellent English skills (fluent), further languages (especially French) a plus

  • Strong communication skills, with ability to tailor approach to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders

  • Successful candidate must be computer literate with proficiency in productivity and reporting tools such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Power BI, ERP systems

  • Personal drive and motivation to grow. Character to define what success looks like in response to an open-ended brief

  • Role includes business development related travel, including attendance at conferences
