Longtan Yangtze River Bridge

Project description

Nanjing, China’s eighth largest city on the mighty Yangtze River has no fewer than five major bridges.

The Longtan Yangtze River Bridge is not only an important link across the Yangtze River, tightly embracing the Qixia District of Nanjing City with Yizheng City in Jiangsu Province, but it is also the eastern-most and most eye-catching vehicular crossing among the many bridges that span the river in Nanjing. Resembling a colossal dragon lying across the water, it is a testament to the prosperity and development on both banks of the Yangtze.

After more than 3 years of construction, the bridge will open to traffic at the end of 2024.

mageba scope

For this impressive structure mageba delivered four large 19-gap TENSA-MODULAR LR expansion joints.

The installed joints feature mageba’s special “Quick-Ex” design which enables the joints to be easily replaced at the end of their life cycle, with the concreted-in parts retained to minimize impacts on the structure and on traffic.

After producing the joints at mageba’s Shanghai production facility, they were delivered on site and were installed under the supervision of our trained local experts.
