Guadalajara–Tepic highway

Project description

The Guadalajara to Tepic autopista is a four-lane highway stretching 168 km between the two cities in western Mexico. It was opened in 1991, and in 2013 underwent significant maintenance and renovation work, with many of the bridges along its length receiving particular attention.

mageba scope

Many of the bridges along the highway required new expansion joints at each end of their decks. Since the bridges generally have short spans, their decks are subjected to little expansion and contraction, and thus single gap joints could be used.

mageba supplied 74 TENSA-GRIP Type RS-B single-gap expansion joint for 11 concrete bridge structures. The joints have a total length of over 1000 meters, with three varieties allowing movements of 80 mm, 100 mm and 110 mm respectively.
