A7 motorway in Linz

Project description

The A7 motorway in Upper Austria runs 27 km from the West Autobahn and the city of Linz to the Mühlviertel in the north, where it ends near the village of Unterweitersdorf.

Its construction started in the early 1960s, however the original plan to connect Linz with České Budějovice in the Czech Republic has never been carried out.

mageba scope

Minimizing disruption to traffic is one of the main objectives when it comes to work on major roads like the A7 motorway, where old expansion joints were replaced with mageba’s new TENSA-POLYFLEX-RapidCure RC flexible plug expansion joints.

This type of joint is especially suitable for time-critical projects due to its short curing time. Another reason why TENSA-POLYFLEX-RapidCure RC was chosen is because its installation didn’t interfere with the existing main structure, and the required durability and performance were not compromised either. In total, 14 m of TENSA-POLYFLEX-RapidCure of type RC40 have been installed in the motorway.

During the work mageba’s Mini-Flyover system was also used, which enables joint replacement work to take place with minimal impact on traffic. With the help of the system the construction areas could be bridged over as required to enable traffic to flow uninterrupted with reduced speed.
