Airport Highway Interchanges

Project description

This project involved the construction of a 5.5 km long road, that connects Muscat International Airport with the 54 km long Muscat Expressway, which is one of the most important transportation routes in Oman.

During this complex project five highway bridges were constructed with several kilometres of service road.

In addition, a new drainage system and footways were built, while new water supply and electric networks were also installed in combination with a modern telecommunication and streetlight system.

mageba scope

For this project mageba delivered TENSA-GRIP RS single gap joints with a total edge beam area of 3000 mm2 and particularly heavy Omani profiles. This makes the overall weight of the joint system heavier than 70 kg/m of joint. In additon, one TENSA-MODULAR LR2 joints was installed.

The edge profiles of the installed joints were made out of weathering steel S355J2W, which is quite commonly used in Oman and across the whole Middle East.
