Heuried sports complex
Project description
The Heuried outdoor pool is part of the Heuried Sports Centre and is one of the largest sports facilities in the city of Zurich. In April 2015, after 50 years of service, the facility closed its doors and at the same time started the 80 million Swiss franc new construction project for the sports and leisure facility. In autumn 2017, the ice rink was reopened, and since spring 2018 also the swimmers can enjoy their passion again.
In the outdoor area of the facility, an expansion joint was installed in the concrete walking area near a staircase. The joint must be level with the concrete and without a gap in order to eliminate the risk of injury. In addition, it must not heat up in sunlight to ensure that people are able to walk on it normally.

In order to meet these requirements, mageba has installed the POLYFLEX®SLIM PU flexible plug expansion joint.
The joint is quickly installed and is fully operational within a few hours after installation. Thus, there was no disruption to site and pedestrian traffic. The expansion joint has a very low installation depth of only 40 mm and is watertight.
The color and surface structure of the joint can also be harmoniously matched to the concrete it is embedded in. A benefit that is often used particular in combination with buildings.
