European Technical Assessments – the product approval evaluations with Europe-wide validity – are not easy to come by, but mageba has been making good progress in going through the lengthy certification process for the company’s products since the system was overhauled in recent years.
And since the noise-reduced TENSA®MODULAR joint (Type LR-LS) is substantially different to the original TENSA®MODULAR joint (Type LR) on which it is based, the ETA awarded in June 2024 for TENSA®MODULAR joints did not cover the noise-reduced version. But thanks to six months of additional dedicated efforts by our technical team, an ETA has now also been awarded for the noise-reduced version. This will simplify the acceptance process on projects across Europe and in other regions where the value of an ETA is similarly recognized, enabling the benefits of the noise-reduced design to be enjoyed by communities all around the world.
According to ETA-24/1091, the expansion joint is engineered for a working life of at least fifty years. This durability minimizes life cycle costs, traffic disruptions, and environmental impacts throughout the bridge’s lifespan. Following independent verification of extensive testing conducted over the past several years we can confidently state that the current version of the TENSA®MODULAR expansion joint – the “5th generation” – is the best ever. Decades after its original invention in the 1960s, it still sets the benchmark in its field.
Talk to us if you are planning to install modular expansion joints close to a residential area – it might help you avoid a huge public relations problem, and save you the cost of replacing or modifying the expansion joints!
