New Orbital Highway Contract 2
Project description
The New Orbital Highway Contract 2 stemmed from the intention to bypass Doha City by connecting Salwa Road and North Relief Road, thus relieving the existing traffic congestion expected to increase in the coming years.
Located in the north west of Doha, NOH2 consists of ten lanes (five in each direction) for light vehicles with additional collector / distributor roads.
Four separate dedicated truck lanes (two in each direction) run parallel to the Orbital from Salwa Road to Junction 5 where a 320 m long cut and cover tunnel splits away from the light vehicle carriageway towards Junction 12, Dukhan interchange.

mageba delivered 199 units of RESTON-SPHERICAL bearings manufactured according to ETA-08/0115.
The vertical load capacity of the bearings is almost 40,000 kN, while each of them weighs 3 tons.
The design of the bearings enables their easy replacement at any time considering the extreme weather conditions.
In addition, SHM bearings with a web-interface were also installed, which enable to monitor the performance of the structure easily online.
