Expansion joints

Characteristics

  • Typical movements: Up to 160 mm

  • Max. comfort and safety

  • Ideal for pedestrian traffic

  • Geometrically flexible (bends etc.)

Principle

mageba TENSA-MAT expansion joints allow movements of up to 160 mm. They consist of watertight elastomeric slabs, clamped between two steel edge profiles which are anchored to the concrete of the bridge deck. The continuous closed surface formed with the carriageway limits noise and vibrations when vehicles pass over the joint. The closed surface also prevents the trapping of debris and other foreign objects.

Applications

TENSA-MAT expansion joints are specifically suitable for use in bridges in urban areas where noise should be minimised, for railway bridges with stone ballast beneath the track, and for joints which are so highly skewed that a gap would present a danger to cycle traffic.
