Tokaji Bridge
Project description
The Tisza Bridge located between the towns of Tokaj and Rakamaz carries
Higway nr. 38. It is one of the oldest bridges over the Tisza River and has a length of 231 m.
During the refurbishment works that started in 2020 the bridge deck was widened, and new separate lanes for cyclists and pedestrians were developed.
The bridge not only form an important link between two regions of Hungary, but also connects the cycle path built between the towns of Nyíregyháza and Tokaj and the cycle path around the Tokaj Hill that will also facilitate the development of tourism in the region.
mageba scope
To enable the movement of the bridge deck mageba supplied one TENSA-MODULAR LR-LS joint to the western abutment of the bridge featuring noise reducing “sinus plates”, while on the eastern abutment one TENSA-GRIP RS-LS expansion joint was installed.
Both expansion joints were fitted with cover plates on the cyclists / pedestrians areas of the bridge. The joints were produced at mageba’s Košice factory in Slovakia and were installed under the supervision of mageba’s experts.
Beyond the joints, 6 RESTON-SPHERICAL bearings were also installed in the bridge, which from two have a maximum load capacitiy of 9,000 kN, while the rest is able to accommodate a maximum vertical load of 2,000 kN. These were manufactured in mageba’s Hungarian production facility in Nyírtelek.
