Typical movements: 200 to 1500 mm
Very robust and durable
Simple design for large movements
Few wear parts, low-maintenance
Surface plates held down by springs, facilitating rotations and damping vibrations
mageba TENSA-FINGER GF sliding finger joints are bridge expansion joints for movements of up to 1,500 mm. Steel finger plates span between edge profiles which are anchored at either side of the bridge gap, and which feature isolation flanges for the connection of deck waterproofing membrane. A drainage channel, hanging beneath the joint and connected to the edge profiles, discharges to the bridge’s drainage system. The finger plates are pre-tensioned downwards by stainless steel springs, preventing them from protruding above the driving surface due to bridge settlements or rotations. The hinged support of the finger plates results in much less transfer of moment to the anchorage and supporting structure than would arise in the case of cantilever finger joints. The orientation of the fingers, in the direction of vehicle travel, minimises noise emissions and maximises driver comfort.
TENSA-FINGER GF sliding finger joints are suitable for use under heavy traffic. The system is designed on a modular basis, allowing individual finger plates to be replaced as required. The main advantage compared to cantilever finger joints is the much reduced effect of moment loading on the supporting structure.
