Crown Bridges

Project description

The Crown Bridges Light Rail will connect the districts of Laajasalo, Korkeasaari and Kalasatama to Hakaniemi in Helsinki by 2027, providing the first direct tram and pedestrian link. The direct light rail connection between the city centre and Laajasalo will also significantly decrease the journey time to the east of the city when using public transport.

Thanks to the project, the shortest way from Kruunuvuorenranta to the Central Railway Station, which is currently 11 km and runs via Itäväylä, will decrease to 5.5 km.

The tram / pedestrian route involves passage over three bridges - Merihaansilta, Finkensilta and the Kruunuvuorensilta. A new Hakaniemensilta road bridge was also built as part of the scheme.

mageba scope

For this project mageba supplied RESTON-SPHERICAL bearings and TENSA-FINGER RSFD cantilever finger joints to the Hakaniemensilta, and the same type of joints were also supplied to the Merihaansilta.

Furthermore, TENSA-FINGER GF sliding finger joints have been provided to the Finkensilta and, once again, spherical bearings to the main Kruunuvuorensilta Bridge – a cable-stayed bridge with a total length of 1.2 km, which will become the longest and tallest bridge in Finland upon completion.
