North Cheonan Distribution Center

Project description

The North Cheonan Distribution Center, currently under construction, is only one of the many logistic warehouses that have been built across the country in recent years.

Due to the increase demands that is generated by E-commerce more and more of these centers will be required in the future.

The distribution center, constructed north of Cheonan city, is planned to have four storeys with a total area of 201,497 m2.

The building has been constructed by DL Construction, which is one of the largest construction companies in South Korea and the total cost of the construction reaches 8.094 million USD.

mageba scope

Due to the large areas of the building, expansion joints were required to accommodate the movements of the floor that may arise as a result of stresses.

Unlike in other similar building projects, where normally expansion joints of small movement capacities are required, in this case mageba's TENSA-MODULAR LR4 modular expansion joints were selected for use, due to the expected large movements.

In total, 102 m of joints will be installed in 6 locations of the building with a movement capacity of 320 mm each.

Since each joint measured 17 m in length, it was not possible to ship them in one piece. As a result, each joint was cut into an 11-m-long and a 6-m-long piece that were then put together on site by using butt joints with bolt connections.
