In 2011, a large elevated roundabout was constructed in the Kosovan capital, Pristina, greatly reducing traffic congestion at a key road junction. The roundabout, located in the Lakrishte section of the city, is connected to several of the roads it serves by similarly elevated ramp structures. It was built by the Kosovan-Croatian partnership Arda Rei & Dinarik.
mageba supplied four RESTON-SA shock absorbers (hydraulic dampers) for use in the construction of the elevated structures. RESTON-SA shock absorbers are used to dissipate the large amounts of energy that result from sudden dynamic loading (e. g. from earthquakes or from the braking of heavy vehicles). In normal conditions, however, they permit free movement between the structure’s parts. The devices, which were supplied complete with connection brackets, were designed for a seismic/dynamic load of 750 kN and with a stroke of +/- 100 mm.
