The D1 motorway runs across Slovakia in an east-west direction and helps to develop a direct connection between the country’s capital, Bratislava and the Ukrainian border.
The length of the newly built Budimír – Bidovce section of the motorway which features 23 bridges is 14.4 km.
This section of the D1 starts with the Budimír elevated crossing, goes across the River Torysa, passes the Košické Olšany junction and ends with the Bidovce junction. The longest bridge on this section measures 542 m.
This large scale scheme not only included the motorway itself but also involved the construction of a 1-kilometer long expressway.
mageba supplied a total number of 154 LASTO-BLOCK elastomer bearings for the following bridges: BO201, BO204, BO206 and BO207. The load capacity of these bearings varies from 320 kN to 1,047 kN.
A further 240 RESTON-POT bearings were also produced for bridge number BO203, BO208, BO211, BO212, BO215, BO216, BO217, BO219 and BO220. These bearings’ vertical load capacity is between 4,858 and 14,851 kN, while their horizontal load capacity can be as high as 4,814 kN.
In addition, 58 TENSA-GRIP expansion joints were also delivered with a total length of 631 m. The movement capacity of these joints varies from 190 to 380 mm and all feature noise reducing sinus plates.
