China’s first super expressway, the Hangyong Expressway, with a total length of 161 km was completed and opened to traffic in 1996.
In order to improve traffic flow further, the lifting and reconstruction project on the Hangzhou Urban Section of the expressway was initiated in 2017.
The total length of the route involved in the refurbishment project was about 21.5 km.
As a major transportation route that provides connection to the Hangzhou Asian Games, the project also involved the construction of a new river-crossing, called the Pengbu Bridge, that has further optimized traffic flow in the city upon its completion.
Considering the central and noise-sensitive location of the project, mageba's TENSA-POLYFLEX-ADVANCED PU flexible plug expansion joint was selected for use.
In 2022, mageba supplied a total of 1,700 m flexible plug expansion joints, from which 1,605 m was installed on the Hangzhou urban section of the expressway.
In addition, 95 m of flexible plug expansion joint were supplied and installed on the new Pengbu Bridge.
mageba’s TENSA-POLYFLEX-ADVANCED PU provides unsurpassed driving comfort and due to the high level of the overall resistance of the material and its water tightness, the PU-based joint also has a long service life.
