Ankara–Sivas Highspeed Railway

Project description

The Ankara–Sivas high-speed railway is a 406 km (252 mi) long high-speed railway in Turkey currently under construction. Once completed, it will become the second longest high-speed railway in Turkey after the Ankara–Istanbul high-speed railway. The connection reduces travel time between Ankara and Sivas from 12 hours to just two hours. The railway will also serve as an extension of the Ankara-Istanbul high-speed railway with a total journey time from Istanbul to Sivas of about 6 hours. The new railway is expected to be operational by 2020.

The Ankara–Sivas line will also be connected to the existing Sivas–Erzincan, Erzincan–Erzurum–Kars rapid lines of the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway project.

mageba scope

The project involves four viaducts, located in the region of Kayaş-Kırıkkale, which are equipped with a total amount of 156 specially designed mageba spherical bearings of different types.

All bearings are designed as flat sliders, with up to +/– 320 mm displacement and up to 44’000 kN load capacity. Some of the structural bearings have been tested in order to verify the fulfillment of the specified requirements. Additionally, they were also inspected and approved by MPA Stuttgart according to CE certification ­requirements during the production process.

The bearings were produced at ­mageba Turkey in 2016 and the installation work took place until end of 2017.
