Executive Tower

Project information

The Executive Tower is a 27-story building constructed in 1976. This building is in a good general condition, however, as it was built in the mid-seventies, it no longer meets the structural safety requirements established by the current regulations.

If a traditional seismic reinforcement system was to be applied, the seismic-resistant capacity of the building would have to be increased by at least 4.5 times, both in the superstructure (rebars, columns and walls) and in the foundations.

mageba scope

The proposed seismic protection system is an arrangement of diagonal wind deflectors coupled with RESTON®SA Shock Absorbers, which have proven to be devices that both reduce the risk of structure collapse and improve the behaviour of the structure during the occurrence of an earthquake.

The building is being equipped with 200 mageba seismic shock absorbers (viscous dampers) with load capacities of up to 800 kN and seismic displacement of ± 50 mm.
