Macao Bridge – The Hong Kong Link Road

Project description

The Hong Kong Link Road is a 12 km dual 3-lane carriageway bridge, connecting the Hong Kong – Zhuhai – Macao Main Bridge (HZMB) at the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) boundary with the Hong Kong Boundary Crossing Facilities (HKBCF).

The Hong Kong Link Road comprises a 9.4 km long viaduct section from the HKSAR boundary to Scenic Hill on the Airport Island; a 1 km tunnel section to the reclamation formed along the east coast of the Airport Island and a 1.6 km long at-grade road section on the reclamation connecting to the HKBCF.

mageba is supplying 208 earthquake bearings RESTON-SPHERICAL for vertical loads of up to 94,700 kN and high horizontal loads at the same time, while allowing large movements. The bearings have a special fuse system that was specially developed for the first ever seismic design requirement in Hong Kong.

mageba also provided 4 expansion joints of type TENSA-MODULAR LR8-LS and 37 TENSA-FINGER expansion joints. Modular expansion joints allow movements and rotations in any direction and assure a smooth driving comfort.
