Junior Project Manager / Design Engineer

mageba USA, with offices in New York City and a production facility in Pottstown, PA, is currently seeking a motivated Junior Project Manager / Design Engineer to join its team in the New York office. mageba USA designs and fabricates expansion joints, bearings, seismic devices, and monitoring services for bridges and buildings.

Key tasks include

  • Prepare preliminary designs and cost estimates of structural bearings, and provide general technical support to the sales department

  • Provide technical support to clients, including visits to conferences and client offices

  • Prepare detailed static calculations and review technical drawings of structural bearings in accordance with relevant codes, for production approval in project execution phase

  • Review contract drawings, project specifications, and local standards to ensure compliance of products and services

  • Support general engineering, R&D, and product DOT approval activities as needed

  • Provide internal technical support to logistics and production departments

  • Create and issue project submittals, RFI’s, purchase orders and change orders, and support the project manager in maintaining project budget

  • Monitor project progress and coordinate activities (design, approval, fabrication, logistics, inspections, installation) among various departments and the client, to ensure timely delivery of products and services

  • Perform factory inspections and site installation supervision visits, as needed

Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required, Master’s Degree preferred

  • Previous internship(s) experience at engineering / construction firm required. 1-2 year’s relevant full-time work experience preferred

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) license preferred

  • Strong background in structural engineering and familiarity with relevant codes (AASHTO LRFD & AISC) required

  • Familiarity with 2D CAD tools (AutoCAD, DraftSight) required. Experience with 3D CAD tools (Solidworks) preferred

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel and PowerPoint required

General Requirements

  • Willingness to work in multiple disciplines (sales, engineering, project management, inspections) expected

  • Strong communication skills, including analytical, collaboration and problem solving

  • Valid US employment visa. mageba USA is based in New York City and the candidate must be eligible to work in the US
