Kosi River Bridge

Project description

A new bridge spanning the Kosi River, connecting the towns of Phulaut and Bihpur, is currently under construction. The 6.9 km-long bridge revolutionizes connectivity in the region.

Before the bridge existed, travellers between Phulaut and Bihpur faced a detour of approximately 72 km. With the introduction of the bridge, the distance between the two towns has been reduced to 12 km, saving valuable time for commuters.

This development marks a significant milestone in the advancement of infrastructure and connectivity in Bihar State, and promising improved accessibility and economic opportunities for its residents.

mageba scope

The bridge has been equipped with 512 LASTO-LRB lead rubber bearings, adopting base isolation concept to optimise the substructure and foundation design, as well as to enhance the safety of the structure against seismic forces.

The products were tested before installation at the testing lab of mageba’s Indian production facility in Kolkata.

Additionally, 1,100 m of TENSA-MODULAR LR4 joint has been also installed to further enhance the integrity and resilience of the structure.
