New CEN Centre

Project description

The Coordinador Eléctrico Nacional (National Electric Coordinator) is an independent body, which is responsible for ensuring the continuous operation of the Chilean power supply. It is also tasked to guarantee open access to all electrical transmission systems and in charge of the security of the service in Chile’s entire electrical grid.

As part of the company’s recent development project, a new office building and a new 2-storey Data Centre have been built in Santiago next to each other.

The buildings are independent structurally and operation-wise from each other, and according to the construction plans the Data Centre required seismic isolators to be installed.

mageba scope

For this project, mageba worked closely with the engineers and the contractor in order to provide 12 LASTO-LRB lead rubber bearings with a diameter of 800 mm and a total height of 417 mm each, including external plates to withstand forces up to 6,480 kN and displacements of 346 mm.

All isolators were successfully tested according to the Chilean norm NCh2745:2013.

In addition to these products, mageba also supplied 2 scratching plates for measuring seismic displacement in the building.
