Dubai Metro Route 2020
Project description
Route 2020 is an extension of the Red Line of the Dubai Metro, and connects the
Jabal Ali Metro Station with the Expo 2020 site.
The new line has seven stations and a total length of 15 km. Route 2020 has two distinctive parts: an elevated section with a total length of 11.8 km, and a 3.2-kilometre-long underground section.
The new extension has the capacity of 46,000 passengers per hour in both directions (23,000 passengers per hour per direction).
A study conducted by RTA showed the number of passengers using Route 2020 would reach 125,000 per day in 2021, which will expected to further increase to 275,000 travellers per day by 2030.
mageba scope
mageba supplied a large number of pot and spherical bearings for the elevated section of the metro line.
In total 65 RESTON-SPHERICAL bearings were produced and installed with a maximum load capacity of 37,295 kN. All bearings were produced in line with the ETA requirements.
Furthermore, 384 RESTON-POT HP bearings were also supplied with a maximum load capacity of 37,295 kN each.
In addition, mageba’s ROBO-SMART monitoring system was also integrated into one of the pot bearings, where sensors measure loads and movements.
A 20 years maintenance contract has been concluded with the client, and mageba has to perform periodical inspections at every 5 years to verify proper functionality of the bearings and the current condition of performance.
