The new Western Sydney Stadium upgrade is part of the New South Wales Government’s $1.6 billion stadia strategy, that aims to improve sporting infrastructure across the state.
The new stadium forms the centrepiece for the transformation of the Parramatta suburb and enhances a sense of place in the revitalised district within its historic parkland setting.
The upgraded venue can now host 30,000 spectators instead of the previous capacity of 20,000.
The structure as a whole was completed in early 2019, with the final internal and landscaping works being finished prior to the official opening that took place on the 14th of April in the same year.
mageba was commissioned to supply 4 RESTON-SPHERICAL bearings of type KE (guided sliding) to the steel and roof connections of the stadium‘s West Stand.
The bearings were designed to restrain the uplift and rotation forces, which makes these products different compared to the standard spherical bearings.
Besides the spherical bearings, mageba also produced and delivered 1,850 LASTO-PAD single layered elastomeric pads to support the precast elements and connections between the steel and concrete structure throughout the stadium.
