The Danube Arena is an aquatics complex located in Budapest. The facility has two full course swimming pools, a diving pool and a short course training pool. In addition, it also features several service points such as restaurants, shops, buffets, separate rooms for the press and a conference
room.
The venue was hosting the 2017 World Aquatics Championships. The arena has 6,000 seats and 8,000 additional mobile seats that were designed only for the period of the Aquatics Championships. The additional seats will be removed after the event and the whole facility will be dedicated to the public for further use.
To support the roof structure of the arena that weighs over 2,550 tons, mageba supplied the following products:
• Four units of RESTON-SPHERICAL spherical bearings of types KF, KE, KEq and KA treated with ROBO-SLIDE sliding material.
All bearings were designed with a maximum vertical load of 30,000 kN (ULS). The KA type bearing has a longitudinal moving capacity of +/-200 mm and a transversal moving capacity of +/-100 mm. The heaviest bearing weighed more than 2.3 tons.
