The Big Kazan Ring Road is an infrastructure development project in the Russian city of Kazan, also known as the “3rd Capital of Russia”.
The overpass, which includes 3 parallel pre-stressed reinforced concrete bridges with 3 spans each, is an important and long-awaited section that completes the Ring Road.
After winning the tender, mageba was commissioned to design and manufacture expansion joints and structural bearings for the overpass within quite a short time frame.
The manufacturing of the required products took place in two locations.
The 24 installed RESTON-SPHERICAL bearings featuring anchor plates were produced at mageba’s Shanghai factory, while the 4 TENSA-GRIP RS-LS100 single gap joints (each measuring 13.1 m) along with the 2 TENSA-RAIL RSU 50 and 100 joints (each measuring 9 m) were produced in the Saint-Petersburg facility of mageba in Russia.
These latter products were necessary due to the overpassing tram rails and were installed under the rail ballast with sliding cover sheets to keep the ballast out from the joint’s gap.
The supplied TENSA-GRIP joints were delivered with noise-reducing sinus plates, since the overpass is situated in a densely inhabited area.
