The installation process just got faster and easier.
Installation lane by lane with minimum impact on traffic flow combined with short installation time – these are a few crucial requirements for many expansion joint projects on bridges and viaducts.
By design flexible plug expansion joint typically avoids the need to break out concrete or steel when replacing an existing joint, and consequently can be installed quicker on both existing and new structures with much less impact on traffic than other types of expansion joint.
However, the installation still requires care, time and dry conditions.
A pilot project on one of Shanghai’s busiest city expressways has shown how even these challenges can be overcome – with pre-casting of TENSA®POLYFLEX® elements – making installation even faster and easier.
