Zhi Jiang Bridge

Project description

The Zhi Jiang Bridge is located in Hangzhou and was constructed as an extension line of the Hangxinjing highway. It features a full length of 1’724 m and crosses the Qiantang River finally ending up on Rainbow Street.

The main bridge is dual-pylon dual-cable plane steel box girder cable-stayed bridge.
Furthermore, it is a pre-stressing concrete cross-section continuous bridge with the main target to provide a more convenient access from Hangzhou to Tonglu, Fuyang and Qiandao Lake.

The bridge has been opened to traffic since 2013.

mageba scope

In 2012, mageba was chosen to supply six TENSA-MODULAR expansion joints of type LR8, LR9 and LR14 with movement capacities of 640 mm, 720 mm and 1’120 mm respectively.

The elastic gap control system increases the service life of the entire joint by damping the impact loading from overrolling traffic. The joint’s pre-stressed connections absorb impacts and vibrations while facilitating large transverse movements, vertical displacements and rotations.

The opening and closing movements of the joint, combined with the continual passage of traffic across the surface, result in a self-cleaning effect.
