Stretching over 4.8 km, the Batang Lupar 1 Bridge is the longest river crossing in Malaysia.
Once completed, the structure will connect the town of Sebuyau in Samarahan to Triso-Maludam-Pusa in Betong, and later replace the Sebuyau-Triso ferry service.
The project includes the construction of a two-lane cable-stayed bridge, which meets the road standard of JKR R5 with a clearance of 250 m in width, and 26 m in height for large vessels to pass through.
This project is planned to be completed in 2025, and it is expected to boost the economy of the region to a large extant.
mageba contributed to the bridge’s construction by designing and manufacturing RESTON-POT bearings to support the decks of the main cable stayed structure.
In total, 218 RESTON-POT bearings have been supplied, including TA ("Free sliding"), TE ("Guided sliding") and TF ("Fixed") types bearings.
The largest bearing was designed to resist vertical loads of up to 19,500 kN, while accommodating sliding movements of up to +/- 178 mm.
The installation of the pot bearings started in 2023, and will be finished in 2024.
