Espacio Condesa Building

Project description

With housing offices, apartments and a shopping center, Espacio Condesa is the first of its kind in the Condesa neighborhood of Mexico City.

Due to the complexity of the project and the seismic demands of the area, it was decided to use seismic protection isolators to protect the office and department towers and the shopping center from earthquakes.
Construction work began in 2016 with the demolition of a car dealership that occupied the 8,000 square meters of Espacio Condesa. It is projected that the complex will open in 2021.

mageba scope

After several extensive dynamic analyzes of the structural seismic response, the engineers decided to implement lead core rubber bearings (LASTO®LRB) that work on the principle of base isolation and limits the energy transfer from the ground to the structure in the event of an earthquake.

Therefore, the building will be equipped with 87 LASTO®LRB units of different diameters, 41 single, 11 double and 35 quadruple isolators with a vertical load capacity of up to 20,683 kN and a movement capacity of +/– 300mm.
