Taohuayu Yellow River Bridge

Project description

The Taohuayu Yellow River Bridge is the fourth bridge of the Xixia Wuzhi Highway over the Yellow River in the city of Zhengzhou. The bridge has a total length of 7,691.5 m, including approaches.

The main structure is a two-tower, three-span self-anchored suspension bridge with a main span of 406 m and side spans of 160 m.

The stiffening girder was erected using a one-way multi-point synchronous incremental launching method, which was controlled by a computer.

The bridge opened to traffic in October 2013.

mageba scope

mageba supplied TENSA-MODULAR expansion joints of types LR13 and LR16 for the Taohuayu Yellow River bridge when constructed in 2013. The expansion joints of type LR13 are designed to accommodate longitudinal deck movements of 1,040 mm, while type LR16 is able to facilitate movements of up to 1,280 mm.

The TENSA-MODULAR expansion joints were connected to the bridge structure by shear bolts. The installation team adopted butt welding during installation under the supervision of mageba.

The entire steel surface is coated with anti-skid material, ensuring safety when driving in humid environments.
