BAB 44 Wehretal Bridge

Project infromation

As one of the last significant west-east connections in northern Hesse, the BAB 44 has been built from Kassel to the east in order to provide a direct connection from the Ruhr region to Dresden.

The motorway runs through a topographically challenging terrain therefore during its construction a large number of tunnels and valley bridges were required.
The Wehretal Bridge is one of the largest and most demanding bridge structures of the section under construction.

The bridge consists of two separate superstructures and connects the Trimmberg Tunnel with the Spitzenberg Tunnel.

mageba scope

mageba supplied spherical bearings as well as modular expansion joints, equipped with noise reducing sinus plates.

To connect the bridge sections, mageba installed TENSA-MODULAR LR4-LS, LR7-LS and LR8-LS expansion joints with maximum longitudinal movements of up to 740 mm.

In addition, 53 RESTON-SPHERICAL spherical bearings were also supplied with a maximum vertical load capacity of 17,500 kN.
