Pentele Bridge

Project description

The Pentele Bridge is a highway bridge spanning over the river Danube between Dunavecse and Dunaújváros in Hungary. The bridge was opened to traffic in 2007.

The structure is part of the accomplished M8 motorway. The bridge‘s full length is 1,682 m. It is aimed to connect the western part of the country, near the Austrian border, to Szolnok in the center of the country. The deck is 41 m wide and carries 2 × 2 road lanes, 2 × 1 stopping lanes, a separating line, a path for pedestrians and a bicycle lane.

The river bridge features a height of 50 m, and weighs about 8,600 tonnes with all the structures excluding pavement. The arches rise 47.6 m above the carriageway and are tilted inwards at an angle of 16.5 degrees from vertical resembling a basket handle.

mageba scope

mageba delivered the following products:

• TENSA-FINGER RSFD cantilever finger joint of type F180, F550 and F620

The total length of the expansion joints is more than 140 m. mageba‘s local team of experts also performed the professional installation of these joints.

Thanks to the use of improved materials, the increased strength enabled the bearings to be made small enough to suit the main structure’s design.
