Bow-String Bridge

Project description

The project consists of the rehabilitation and lifting of the bridge OA 1084 called “Bow-string” supporting the highway A13 on the CFL railways in Schifflange, Luxembourg.

The whole structure must be rehabilitated and raised by 40 cm. This work takes place in the summer of 2021.

mageba scope

In order to limit the duration of the highway closure, the lifting work is carried out over a weekend, and the bridge needs to be reopened to traffic on Sunday evening.

For this reason, mageba provided two Mini-Fly-Over (MFO) expansion joints that were installed on both sides of the bridge. These joints are quick to install and can be used as temporary expansion joints until the permanent expansion joints are installed.

mageba also supplied 24 RESTON-SPHERICAL bearings to replace the existing structural bearings of the bridge.
