Project description

The Cadiz Bay Bridge, also known as “Constitution of 1812 Bridge” or “La Pepa Bridge”, will link Cadiz with Puerto Real in Spain, and will alleviate the traffic on the first bridge over the Cadiz bay built in 1969.

The bridge is named after “La Pepa”, the first Spanish Constitution that was signed in 1812 in Cadiz, where the General Courts had fled to during the Spanish Independence War.
With a total length of 3,157 m, a 540 meters main span and a 69 meters vertical clearance, the new cable-stayed bridge will be one of the highest clearance and longest main span bridges in Europe.

mageba’s supply comprised all 8 shock transmission units for this bridge that will be installed in one of the piers.

The devices, with a maximum load capacity of 4,880 kN and a movement capacity of 1,074 mm, feature a pressure release valve in order to prevent overload in case of a seismic event.
The devices were especially designed in order to fit into a limited, predefined space, proving mageba’s innovative approach and competence in the field.
