Hospital Grabs

Project description

As the central hospital in the region, the Grabs Hospital in the canton of St. Gallen provides basic medical care as well as emergency and special treatment. The expansion and reconstruction of Grabs Hospital began in 2016 and will be completed after three construction stages in 2023.

The construction sum amounts to CHF 137 million.
A special feature of this construction project was the bedding of the 140 m long jointless concrete facade.

mageba scope

LASTO®BLOCK C elastomeric bearings were used in order to meet the high demands that were defined for the structural bearings. Svpecially adapted layer thicknesses made it possible to meet the requirements for horizontal distortion and limited vertical distortion.

In addition, the extensive adjacent steel construction for the upper and lower fixation of the elastomeric bearings was delivered.

mageba also manufactured special tension and compression anchors for this project and equipped them with heavy-duty LASTO®BLOCK T separator bearings.

In order to enable unrestricted movement, the entire surface between the insulation and the exposed concrete facade was completely separated with LASTO®FOL G sliding foil.
