Tampere Arena

Project description

Tampere Arena is a 15’000 seater capacity indoor arena development, sitting in the centre of Tampere, Finland.

Construction is ongoing ahead of expected opening in 2021, in time for the 2022 IIHF World Championship.

The arena, with estimated construction cost €125million, is part of a wider re-development in the city, including approx. 1000 new apartments and 280 new hotel rooms.

The steel roof trusses, supported on RESTON-SPHERICAL bearings, create a column free entertainment space that will play host to concerts, sporting and cultural events.

mageba scope

mageba was commissioned to supply 45 RESTON® SPHERICAL bearings, with vertical load bearing capacity up to 5650 kN, to support the steel framed roof whilst accommodating specified movements and rotations.

mageba RESTON-SPHERICAL bearings ensure controlled transfer of forces between the long-span steel roof and its substructure.

A combination of type KA, KE and KF spherical bearings were supplied, to control the direction and magnitude of movements and rotations in the roof structure. Depending on the bearing type, the high quality ROBO-SLIDE concave surface allows for rotations about one or both axes.
